Our new children to year 1 have been busy settling in to class and we've been learning so much about each other already.

Here's a few of our wonderful displays to show what we've been getting up to already.

Multi skills festival at Sir John Colfox Academy

Class 2 had an amazing morning at the Sir John Colfox Academy with the year 7 leaders. We took part in a multitude of multi skills activities and all made excellent improvements.

A little of this, a little of that...

Well it's nearly half term and class 2 have really settled into the new term. Here's a few snaps of our badminton morning and a literacy lesson where we are learning to draw story maps to aid us in telling stories.

Story maps... learning to retell the story of Hansel and Gretal using signs and pictures. We will move onto writing and telling our own version.

Harvest Celebrations

Class 2 launched into Harvest Week with a trip to the beautiful Denhay Farm. We were met by the friendly farmer George. He showed us some of the 400 cows they have at Denhay. We even petted the baby calves. We watched the cows being milked and even had time to fit in learning about different types of cow feed. We were all very worn out on the journey home.

We have also been studying harvest around the world as our school based topic. This fitted perfectly in with our continents topic. Therefore, we looked at an African harvest time. We found there were lots of countries in Africa (54). We found they grow a lot of maize. It was only right to cook popcorn as a snack to remember this!

Stay tuned for a video of our Cassa dance video. A traditional dance for the farmers when they are away collecting harvest to keep their spirits high.

Topic - Continents

Here are a few pictures of year 1 and 2 working together exploring the 7 continents around the world. They have learnt so much already.
