Class 4 - Autumn 2016

Our topic this term is

VICTORIANS

On the 17th November, we are going to visit the water supply museum and pumping station at Sutton Poyntz..............We had a great day at Sutton Poyntz learning about  Dr. Snow and how he discovered that Cholera was a water born disease.

We are planning to hold a Victorian Day on Wednesday 23rd November.  To add to the experience, we will be dressing in the style of a Victorian school child. You could start planning your outfit now.  A letter will be out shortly with suggestions of costumes suitable for the day..............We had two Victorian days. The first was to experience a school day, the second day we cooked, cleaned and sewed. We had a great time on both days.

Visit from an Orchestra

Visit from an orchestra called Impulse.  They are a group of 10 students from the Purcell Music College who visit schools as an outreach activity. After a whole school concert class 4 had the opportunity to take part in a one hour workshop.  They had a great time.

Literacy & Art

We have been developing our writing skills by creating a piece of writing in the style of Roald Dahl.  We then chose a character from our own story to sketch and colour using the techniques of Quentin Blake.
