Spring 2018

Welcome to Class 2's Spring Term Page

Welcome to Class 2's working page. We are excited to get started this new year and learn all about new and exciting things. Mrs Edney and Miss Turner and myself are all pleased with how well the children have adapted to a new environment.

Here is some information you may like to read about the things we are up to this term. There is also a PowerPoint presentation on how our new learning logs are working through the school. The children are very excited to get started with these.

Our topic this term is the Great Fire Of London

We've jumped in head first to our new topic and took the opportunity to get on the laptops and do some of our own research into what we wanted to find out about the Great Fire of London.

Art - Famous Artists

For our art topic this term we are looking at a variety of different famous artists. We take a lesson at a time to study a different one and why their art is famous. Here are some of our own versions of Klandinsky's work.

Skipping day

The whole school took part in a skipping day hosted by Lee from Skip Hop. Is was a fantastic day and each class received an hours tuition from Lee. He had visited the school before and some of the children remembered him. He was very impressed with how well the children could already skip. Here are some of our attempts.

Brazil Week

We had a break from our usual topics this week to take part in Brazilian carnival week. It was so much fun. We ended the week with a procession of everything we had made, including our float, shakers, masks and necklaces, around the village; led by the class 3 samba band. During the week, this is what we got up to.

Where the wild things are -Literacy/ Dance workshop

We had a special dance workshop based on the book 'Where The Wild Things Are'. Each class had a 45 minute dance workshop based on the book. It was great fun and a really good way for the children to dramatise a book. Some children really stood out and shone in ways which the teachers had not seem before.

Daffodil Picking - For Mothers Day

Class 1 and Class 2 went off on a trip this morning to fetch some daffodils from the woods. We love this tradition of picking flowers for all the mums. We managed to stay dry and not get too stung.
