Class 2 - Summer 2017
Welcome to the Summer term.
Class 2 welcomes you to our class page.
This term we have jumped in with both feet and are going to be exploring Dinosaurs as our main topic! We are all very excited and looking forward to finding out more. The challenge so far has been pronouncing dinosaur names!
DINOSAURS - RAAAAAA!!!!
We've started quick and ready for the summer term. We spent the afternoon researching our own dinosaurs and putting together a fact sheet for them. The children really loved being out in the new outdoor area.
Dinosaur Day !!
We had the most fabulous dinosaur workshop in school yesterday! In the morning, we learnt about the 2 different types of dinosaurs and explored a rather impressive fossil collection. We even held real dinosaur poo! In the afternoon we met two real dinosaurs, Jack and Sophie! Here are a few pictures.
As part of our dinosaur topic, we have made some of our own fossils which we will decorate once they have formed (no, we're not waiting millions of years, we've cheated!). The children watched excitedly, and joined in when they could, as we poured our fossil solution into our moulds.
RE - Hanukkah
We have been learning all about the story of Hanukkah in RE. We have been looking at the Macabees and how they bravely fought against the evil King of Syria to defend the special temple. We have looked how they celebrate it and playing the dreidel is one of those ways.
End of SATs party - we invited the year one's too!
Year two have been absolute stars for their SATs week. They have been so grown up, sensible and handled everything which was thrown at them. For a well deserved treat, we had a party on Friday to celebrate everything which they had achieved. Here are some photos of us playing JustDance on the Xbox. Also a picture of the wonderful cake Devon's mummy very kindly made for us.
PH Sports coaching - Cricket
This first half terms topic for PE is Cricket. Class two have been having an absolute ball trying to figure out how to play it. Devon said "There is a lot of rules to remember." Here's some picture I took learning in the rain.
Science - Habitats
It was a fabulously hot day today so we went on another adventure to find leaves and tress! We had a super time exploring everything we could find around our garden and field. next time.. we will explore Colmers Hill.
We made the most of our wonderful outdoor areas this afternoon and became investigators. We went in search of local woodland habitats. We found lots of different animals, bugs and insects. Some of our favourites were a fish (in the pond), a spider, a woodlouse, a millipede and a bird. Here are some photos of our adventures.
