This statement is underpinned by the school’s vision and values:
Vision & values
‘You, me, us, everyone – We are a school that believe we have the power to change the world!’
‘The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body.
So it is with the body of Christ.’
(1 Corinthians 12:12)
We are a Church of England School with a historic foundation and a strong community spirit that provides our pupils with a supportive and nurturing environment in which they can develop into the very best they can be. We measure success not just in terms of academic achievement but in terms of how happy children are to come to school each day and the extent to which they develop into confident individuals, benefiting from a range of experiences and successes which positively shape their character and inspire a lifelong love of learning.
We provide education of the highest quality to all our pupils, within the context of Christian belief and practice. Our pupils are encouraged to see themselves as responsible global citizens and to behave as a caring and respectful school family.
Our core values are:
Respect - “We always respect each other with our kindness.”
Responsibility – “We take care of our school, all the people and property.”
Relationships – “We are always nice to each other and let people join in with our games.”
Reflection – “We reflect on things that happen all over the world and sometimes have a minutes silence.”
Rejoicing – “We celebrate for Harvest, Christmas and Easter in lots of exciting ways.”
Reaching – “We reach for our goals and try our best!”
Because we value RESPONSIBILITY Our vision is always to understand that because we have a RIGHT, we have a RESPONSIBILITY.
‘Be the doers of the word and not the hearers only’ (James 1:22)
|
Because we value REACHING Our vision is always to try our best in all we do and reach out to others
‘You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.’ (Matthew 5:14-16,)
|
Because we value RESPECT Our vision is always to respect and support each other.
‘Love each other warmly as Christians and be eager to show respect for one another.’ (Romans 12:10)
|
Because we value REFLECTION Our vision is always to be able to learn from our mistakes and grow from them.
‘For I know the plans I have for you said the Lord. Plans to prosper you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ (Jeremiah 29:11)
|
Because we value REJOICING Our vision is always to celebrate all achievements—large or small.
‘Encourage one another and build each other up’. (Thessalonians 5:11)
|
Because we value RELATIONSHIPS Our vision is always to include EVERYONE in our Symondsbury family.
‘The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.’ (Corinthians 12:12)

Our Spirituality Poetry
Spirituality … Thoughts
A trillion thoughts or a billion memories
A million ideas or a thousand dreams
Floating through my brain
Making me happy,
making me sad
Washing over me like a storm
A brainstorm
Bolts of memory
Thunderous books of thought
And raindrops of imahination
Thought
Grabbing me with abstract hands
Thought
My spirituality

Spirituality
Living down on the ground or up in the sky
I love animals but I don’t know why
Birds, snakes, wolves and a dog too,
I like everyone and I like you too,
Liking everyone can sometimes be tricky
But the person who found it easy was Nicky
He told me “the trick was in you, you just have to feel it”
Then I had to get out of my kit
Which was my spirituality

Spirituality
My family and friends,
Pets as well
Your family are your friends
I’ll look after you too
And look after themselves
And you look after your pets

My Spirituality
Up in the sky, the moon up high
Warm hugs make me never cry
Fresh air in the tall, bumpy mountains
Splashing wet, blue fountains
Never ever shouting
Green, brown and tall trees
Swimming in the deep blue seas
Walking around with buzzy bees
War and fighting I will cease
So we will all live in peace
Singing for all that hear
Even if they are nowhere near
That’s my spirituality.

Spirituality is Unique
What does spirituality mean to you?
To Michelle it means meditation and calmness
To Immy it means going to see all the different places on Earth
And to Ben it means spending time with family and friends
To me it means dancing in the moonlight
But spirituality has no specific meaning
Spirituality is unique

Spirituality
Singing makes me calm
Doesn’t matter if you’re good or bad
Just sing a line that makes no sense
Happiness is a good feeling
Go out and have some fresh air
No one cares
Animals, different types,
Some are with stripes
Spots, dots, lines
Drawing sometimes
I love to draw it out
Draw a squiggle then a line, see what you can draw
Imagination, dreams
See where your imagination leads you
A faraway land… a woods
Where ever your imagination takes you

Spirituality
Hannah’s spirit laid in a temple
Seb’s spirit sits in a cave
Henry’s walks up a mountain
Romy’s dances in the moonlight
Spirituality is good
Spirituality is personal
Spirituality is you!
Immy
Mountains, mountains, I like mountains
Some smooth, some bumpy
How I like mountains
Home to all animals
Sometimes snowing
Wind is blowing
How the old bold mountain
It is morning on the mountain
I can hear howling and growling
Something is prowling
WOLF!
The howling, growling wolf
Fergal
I love it when people are quiet
I love it when I am camping
Cosy in my sleeping bag
I love going swimming
Going under the water
Willa
I love it when I walk with my dog
Peaceful
I love it when I have a ride in the tractor
I love it when I chase chickens
I love it when I look up at the stars
