Easter
We are looking forward to our special Easter Service in the Church. We have made our family Easter cards and today we have made Easter nests.
We discussed how the ingredients resembled a real birds nest and talked about the connection between new life and Easter. Tomorrow we are going to use our experience to practice our instruction writing.
Daffodil Picking
We have a tradition of picking daffodils for Mother's Day and we had a lovely morning this year.
Library Visit
Class 1 had a brilliant time at the library today. Claire and Elaine gave us a tour and we found out that the building used to be Bridport Fire Station! We were sat where the engines used to be parked! We also found out about all the different sorts of books are in the library, not just children's books but information books, audio books and maps too. We loved having Claire and Elaine read us a story. I think the best bit was having lots of time to explore all the wonderful books.
Spanish Week
Class 1 have really enjoyed learning about Spain this week! We have cooked the traditional tapas dish 'Patatas Bravas'. We made the sauce at school and then cooked the potatoes on the Forest School fire. A delicious Spanish themed snack to have at Forest School! We learnt a little about Pablo Picasso and had a go at doing our own abstract portraits. We thoroughly enjoyed our Flamenco dancing workshop, we stamped and clapped and twirled our hands. All our learning culminated in a parade through the village where we sang and danced at the Estate, we all had a wonderful week learning about Spain.
Chinese New Year
One of our favourite times of year, learning about the colourful festival that is Chinese New Year. We have been making fortune cookies with the playdough and surprising the the teachers by putting messages inside! We have made some lucky money envelopes and popping them under the pillow of the bed in our role play area. The dragon and lion have made their annual appearance and we have used them to move to Chinese music.
