Forest School - nature art
We have been finding colour in the woods today and making our own pieces of art work...with hammers!
Class 1 loved sharing their learning with their families in our first 'Fabulous Finish' about our minibeast topic. We swapped things around and made the mummies and daddies the children and the children the teachers! The adults had activities for the children to help them with. The children also prepared some healthy caterpillar snacks and of course a little treat with some butterfly fairy cakes. The children also finished the afternoon by reading the adults their very own versions of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'.
See more photos in our gallery.
We have been learning about growing and as part of this we planted our own tray of cress in the classroom. The children were fascinated watching it grow and were so excited to see the roots, shoots and leaves developing.
When the cress was ready we cut it and made some cress sandwiches. Delicious!!
The children really enjoyed using the clay to make Gruffalo characters at Forest School so we have given them the opportunity to continue exploring and creating with this medium.
We discussed how clay has been used to make pots, jugs and models for a very long time!
We also learnt how to make an owl!
It was a fantastic activity for strengthening our fingers and great to be able to create 3D pieces.
Here are a couple of pictures of what the children made. We had cups, saucers, plates and bowls as well as the lovely owls! We even had some snakes!
